Zhu Zhu Pets™ drive around in little cars, zip up ramps and spin down slides, run in their hamster wheels, and get into all sorts of crazy situations.  Their artificial intelligence even allows them to know what room of their hamster habitat they are in. They make toilet-flushing or teeth-brushing sounds when they enter the bathroom and sleeping noises and alarm-clock sounds when they go into their bedroom.

Zhu Zhu hamsters are equipped with a proprietary code reader.  This reader allows your toy pet hamster to react to the different locations inside the Zhu Zhu Pets™ environments such as the Zhu Zhu Funhouse.   The Zhu Zhu Pets™ Fun House and add-on sets such as the SK8 board and U-Turn, Surfboard and Sleep Dome, the Hamster Car and Garage, and other Zhu Zhu Pets toys the are sold separately. The code reader has no function outside of the play sets.

You Zhu Zhu hamsters are ready to go as soon as they are removed from the package, but you may want to install a fresh set of batteries as soon as you can, so that your Zhu Zhu Pets are playing at full strength right off the bat.  Batteries supplied with Zhu Zhu Pets toys are for in-store demonstration purposes and may require replacing in a short period of time.

Zhu Zhu Hamsters Activation Buttons

Zhu Zhu hamsters have two activation buttons and one sensor button. The button on its head and one on its back activate the play. The button on its nose acts as a bump sensor when in Explore Mode and as a Try-Me button when in Sleep Mode. The nose button has no function in Talk Mode.

Zhu Zhu Pets™ are available as five different characters:

If the pet makes sounds but the wheels will not turn, open the battery box, make sure both batteries are firmly seated in position.  If the pet does not run or make sounds the batteries may be depleted. Replace with fresh AAA batteries. For best performance and battery life use Alkaline or better.

If the pet seems to get stuck moving around in the play sets check all of the snaps and connector junctions. Your pet works best on smooth, hard, even surfaces. It will not work on carpet or other soft surfaces. Do not use in sand, grass, or wet conditions.   Running time and battery life will depend on play conditions and may vary.  Do not let the pet run in sand or water.  This may damage the electronics and gears.

To make your pet go to sleep, press the back button while in explore mode.  The sleep timer is reset each time the pet passes over a code in a play set.

Zhu Zhu Hamsters Care

Spot clean your Zhu Zhu hamsters only; do not soak.  If your Zhu Zhu Hamsters do get wet for any reason, remove the batteries and allow the pet to air dry overnight before attempting to operate it again.

Remove the batteries if the pet is stored for long periods of time.

The pet is not designed to be a sleep toy, remove the batteries if your child wishes to take it to bed.

Zhu Zhu Pets™ are designed to be enjoyed by a wide range of ages both boys and girls and can be expanded to fill the imagination. They are not recommended for children younger than 4 years of age. Parents need use their own judgment and determine if your child is ready for the toy they are given regardless of their age. No one knows your child better than you. Read and understand the instructions, understand toys functions, and observe your child’s play. It is strongly recommended to follow the age rating set by manufactures on any product.

When your child’s Zhu Zhu Pets Christmas gift toys are first unwrapped, you may want to practice with your child so they understand how their Zhu Zhu Pet operates. This will make their play experience more satisfying for them and in turn for you.

The Zhu Zhu Pets™ hamster is a toy and is intended as a pet toy hamster for children; it is not intended for use with live animals.

Zhu Zhu Pets™ hamsters come in many different colors and styles.  These toy pet hamsters are ready to go as soon as you remove them from their packaging.

Pet Toy Hamster’s Operating Modes

Zhu Zhu Pets™ hamsters have three Modes of operation:

• Talk Mode
• Explore Mode
• Sleep Mode

1. Talk Mode; this is the nurturing, loving mode, when you want to give your Zhu Zhu hamsters special attention without having it try to scurry away from you. Press the Head Button to make the pet coo, chirp, and make a variety of cute sounds. It will continue to make new sounds every few seconds or every time you push the Head button. After about one minute the pet will automatically go to sleep.

2. Explore Mode; this is where you get to watch the pet go out and explore the world!  Press the Back Button to engage the motor, then set the pet down and let it go. In Explore Mode your Zhu Zhu hamsters will entertain you with crazy fun sounds and wacky movements.  It will back up when it bumps its nose. Press the Back Button again while in Explore mode and the Zhu Zhu hamsters will go to sleep. If left alone in explore mode your toy pet hamster automatically goes to sleep after about four minutes.

3. Sleep Mode:  You Zhu Zhu hamsters sleep to conserve energy and save the batteries when not in use. You can wake it up by pressing the Head or Back button. Sleep Mode also doubles as a Try-Me Mode for the pet.  In Sleep mode, the nose button is active and will cause the pet to make simple sounds each time the button is pressed.  Your toy pet hamster will then go back to sleep.
